Feeding the baby with another woman's breastmilk
Informal sharing of human milk can be beneficial for infants and the family, but it also carries risks. The situation is different when it comes to donor human milk, which is provided by breastfeeding women through human milk banks.
Breastfeeding during pregnancy
“You breastfeed your baby and find out you are pregnant. You don't want to stop breastfeeding too soon, but you are concerned about how pregnancy affects breastfeeding and how breastfeeding affects pregnancy. There is no evidence that breastfeeding can endanger a pregnancy that proceeds without complications. Pregnancy does not affect the quantity and quality of milk. "
Infant formulas
Infant formulas are the only safe choice for children who do not get breastmilk. Using appropriate infant formula is recommended during the first 12 months; you can start giving cow's milk to your child when he/she is one year old.
When milk comes in later - delayed lactation
If the expected increase in the amount of milk does not occur in the first 72 hours after birth, delayed lactation is considered to have occurred. An estimated 5-10% of women (maybe even 25%) have delayed lactation.
Breastfeeding and alcohol consumption
It is safest not to consume alcohol at all while breastfeeding. The effect of alcohol on the baby is proportional to the amount drunk by the mother.
Neonatal conjunctivitis and blocked tear duct
Mild eye irritation or discharge, narrowed or blocked tear duct, and conjunctivitis are the most common problems and eye infections in newborns and babies.
